On the 23rd May 2010 six students and three teachers headed to NUS High School, Singapore, for the second Singapore International Mathematics Challenge.

Working in teams of three at the invitational challenge, students were set a complex operational mathematics problem which involved locating Coffee Bean coffee shops to compete with Starbucks.  Incorporating aspects of higher level mathematical modeling and real life business issues the teams were faced with a truly unique challenge.

From M6 Chate, Ben and Noon teamed up and M5's Win (Pawan), Winnie and Party formed the second team.  Both teams fared extremely well and the M6 team received special recognition from the judges receiving a commendation medal.

A big congratulations to all students!

The SIMC was a truly unique challenge comprising multi-day problem solving culminating in a presentation of solutions to several judges.  Schools from 18 countries across the world sent teams including the US, England, France, Australia, Japan, Russia and Singapore.  The quality of the competition was very high and the school looks forwards to sending students again in 2012.

Additionally, Ajarn Sirichan represented the school at the Principals Conference and Ajarns James and JJ presented the school's program and academic achievements during educators workshops.  The workshops provided an opportunity to build relationships with several schools across the globe and hopefully we will be able to collaborate with some of these schools on projects involving both teachers and students in the years to come.
