The King of Thailand is sponsor of the Distance Learning Project and the EPTS Program is privileged to be a part of the King's initiative.  Three times a year the EPTS Programs travels to Hua Hin to participate in a 3 hour live broadcast.  This year’s Distance Learning Project will focus on 2 English language proficiency tests (TOEFL and IELTS) and 1 admissions test (SAT).  The TOEFL, IELTS and SAT are tests that Thai students will likely encounter when applying for admission to a foreign university.  Ajarn John and Ajarn Michael will introduce the students to each test and present them with the strategies necessary to perform well on these tests.  Students will attempt to solve sample questions from the test and will receive in-classroom feedback on their answers.

Table Manners

Ajarn Amornpon, Ajarn Ratana, Ajarn Kimberly

Table manners refers to the etiquette used while eating, which may also include the appropriate use of utensils. Different cultures observe different rules for table manners. Many table manners evolved out of practicality. For example, it is generally impolite to put elbows on tables, since doing so creates a risk of tipping over bowls and cups. Each family or group sets its own standards for how strictly these rules are to be enforced.

Every year Matayom 1 students attend a seminar on Western table manners before embarking on their summer course in Canada.  Students learn table settings, general behavior and dining practices common in North America.

Ancient City Field Trip

Ajarn Jason

Ajarn James

Every year Matayom 1 (Grade 7) students visit the Ancient City to learn about Thai culture and history.

Ancient Siam is dubbed as the world's largest outdoor museum. Situated close to the Crocodile Farm in Samut Prakan province, the 320-hectare city features 116 structures of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural attractions. The grounds of Ancient Siam correspond roughly to the shape of the Kingdom, with each of the monuments lying at their correct places geographically. Some of the buildings are life-size replicas of existing or former sites, while others are scaled down.

The replicas were constructed with the assistance of experts from the National Museum to ensure historical accuracy. Outstanding works include the former Grand Palace of Ayutthaya (destroyed in the Burmese invasion of 1767), Phimai Sanctuary in Nakhon Ratchasima, and Wat Khao Phra Viharn on the Cambodian border.

The 2008 Australian Mathematics Competition, the 31st AMC, was held on Thursday 31 July. A record number of schools participated. We thank schools from around Australia and countries in the Asia Pacific region for their continued support of this event which dates back to 1978 and continues to be the major mathematics school enrichment event in the region. It is also the first part of a further enrichment and problem solving program. In Australia it is also the basis of the program for training for the International Mathematical Olympiad.

Historically, library science has also included archival science.[1] This includes how information resources are organized to serve the needs of select user groups, how people interact with classification systems and technology, how information is acquired, evaluated and applied by people in and outside of libraries as well as cross-culturally, how people are trained and educated for careers in libraries, the ethics that guide library service and organization, the legal status of libraries and information resources, and the applied science of computer technology used in documentation and records management.

During their tenure at EPTS teachers are expected to perform "Action Research" on a topic they are interested in that will benefit the educational goals and objectives of the program.  Action research is a reflective process of progressive problem solving led by individuals working with others in teams or as part of a "community of practice" to improve the way they address issues and solve problems. Action research can also be undertaken by larger organizations or institutions, assisted or guided by professional researchers, with the aim of improving their strategies, practices, and knowledge of the environments within which they practice.
